Obermühle Durlach, which was probably built in 1479 by the city of Durlach.During the Baden Revolution in 1849 there was a battle at the Obermühle, in memory of which a commemorative plaque with cannonballs was embedded in the wall.
In order to widen the street, the building was shortened in 1923 and given a new facade.
There was a sawmill on the peninsula between the two watercourses, later the municipal Pfinz power station was built here, which today serves as a residential building. The discharge of the Dürrbach is located in the underwater part of the mill.
The mill was bought by the NaturFreunde local group in Durlach in 1987 and renovated in an exemplary manner according to ecological aspects. Since 1992, the newly built mill wheel, designed according to old descriptions as a medium-sized mill wheel, has been used to generate electricity and, depending on the amount of water, can deliver 15-40 kW.
