The town hall building in Amelinghausen used to be a farmhouse with a license to serve alcohol (also called a "Krug"). The first mention of it as an inn dates back to the 17th century. After the First World War, the "village pub" became a hotel.
Shortly after the Second World War, the farm owner gave up farming and sold his land.
After a disco was run here in the 1970s and 1980s, politicians now give speeches here.
