The Loisach is a 114 km long left tributary of the Isar in Austria and Germany.

The river rises in the Austrian state of Tyrol between the Lechtal Alps in the west and the Wetterstein Mountains in the east, close to the Fern Pass. Its source is located in Biberwier, near the lakes Blindsee, Mittersee and Weißensee. From there the Loisach flows via Ehrwald along the west side of the Zugspitze across the Austrian-German border.

The water then flows through southern Bavaria past Grainau to Garmisch-Partenkirchen, after which the river heads further north between the Ammergau Alps in the west and the Ester Mountains in the east. The river then flows past Murnau am Staffelsee, among others, to flow into the Kochelsee at Schlehdorf. The Loisach leaves this lake on its north side west of Kochel am See, after which the river finally flows into the Isar at Wolfratshausen.

It's worth going a little deeper into the park. There you will find, among other things, a forest swing at the ruins of an (apparently) old outdoor swimming pool or something similar. There are also very nice places by the water where the stream becomes a little "wilder".
