The statue of Gregory of Nin is the original and is located next to the Church of Saint Anselm in the historic center of Nin.

The gigantic bronze statue at the entrance to the historic city of Split is just a reproduction of this original.

During the Middle Ages, Gregory was a Croat, Bishop of Nin, known for his opposition to the Pope and official circles of the Catholic Church.

He introduced the Croatian language during religious services. Before that time, services were always held only in Latin, which was not understandable for a majority of the population.
