In the context of the Marian Sanctuary of Oropa complex, work began in 1885, but was only partially completed in 1960. The result obtained is questionable, of little architectural value. The Oropa complex is a UNESCO world heritage site and the entire territory has become the “Special Nature Reserve of the Sacred Mount of Oropa”.
