Striking octagonal wooden church, built in 1843 (and consecrated on October 17 of the same year).
It was built to replace an old church that was destroyed by lightning in the winter of 1734. It was probably repaired and remained there for another hundred years.
Not all parishioners agreed that the new church was built here. Klæhaugen, a little further away, seemed a better place to them.
The new church was considered the most beautiful church in Vesterålen at the time.
A major restoration took place in 1930.
