Mindelo ornithological and amphibian reserve with 380ha covers the coastal part of the municipality of Vila do Conde, constituting the only preserved coastal area. It includes dune ridges and wetlands, bouça and agricultural areas, the plants have Coincya Jonhtonii and Jasione maritime species that only exist in Portugal. In fantastic terms, the occurrence of 81 species of birds is confirmed and it is also an important refuge for amphibians
