Confluence of Heerener Mühlbach and Blaues Klassenzimmer

From the Köttelbecke to a learning object with an outdoor factor – the Heerener Mühlbach has also undergone this transformation in recent years. Since June 2021, open-air school lessons have been taking place here in the blue classroom on the renatured stream, where young explorers can get to know local waters and life in them up close. And thanks to the wastewater-free run and successful resettlement, there is more and more to discover, for example the burbot, which is threatened with extinction.
Incidentally, estuaries are also real “crossroads” for living beings, because they will usually colonize those rivers whose conditions they prefer, for example temperature, current strength or clarity of the water.
