The name of this building from 1786 already indicates its function: the central post over the guardrooms at the entrances to the city.
The brick building, one of the well-preserved monuments of Geertruidenberg, has a built-in gallery, supported by six pillars under five short arches. There is an entrance gate with an iron gate. This was the passage to the barracks. If you look through it, you will see the Arsenal on the Harbor.
The garrison was dissolved in 1963 and since then the Main Guard in Geertruidenberg has no longer had a function.
