The customs station was reduced to rubble and ashes in the course of the July Revolution in the autumn of 1830 during the so-called “Hanau riots”, which were also directed against the customs duties on the external borders of the Electorate, just as the tax office and the Mainz customs office had already been in Hanau.

Only a few meters away on the Mainkur, where the restaurant "Mainkur-Stuben" is today, the "customs station" stood until 1830. The building was destroyed during the "Hanau riots".
