In the bend between the steep hills leading to Paus and the flat cropland next to the Vouga River, lies the extinct town of Vila Verde.

While some of the ruins of the old town can still be seen, the most well preserved building is the Chapel of St. André, which I believe to date from the late 19th Century and whose construction was sponsored by a number of benefactors, their names carved in a marble slab above the front door.

There are multiple dirt tracks in the area, including steep tracks (which may or may not be rideable).

Very muddy in winter and dry with the occasional water/mud pothole in the summer. Definitely worth checking out.
