The building of the monument of the Gotthard Castle was built between 1696 and 1699 in the Baroque style. In 1881, the observatory was also built. The building was then redesigned in an eclectic style according to the plans of Alajos Hauszmann, and then the observatory was added to the right wing of the castle. The dome tower of the castle was designed by Jenő Gothard himself. At the gate facing the street, a sign announces: "Here, Jenő Gothárd set up his astronomical observatory in 1881.

Most recently, the castle housed municipal apartments. In 2016, it was forcibly evicted. Since then, it has stood empty on the outskirts of the city. A lost place, what a pity!
