At the LWL Textilwerk Museum, you can experience the 20th-century textile industry up close. Opened in 1989, the museum factory showcases a Münsterland weaving mill around 1900 – complete with a boiler house and chimney, engine house, a factory hall with shed roofs, a workshop, offices, warehouses, a gatehouse and porter's house, a shed, railway tracks, and workers' quarters. The former Herding spinning mill has been part of the museum since 2011. Exhibitions, collections, and events await you on more than 4,000 square meters. Major special exhibitions demonstrate how fashion, clothing, and social developments are intertwined.

The reconstructed workers' houses there remind me strongly of the company apartment where I spent the first ten years of my childhood. I never would have dreamed that such a house would one day become a museum-worthy home.
