View of the Lippe Meadows (Lippewiesen)

The Lippe Meadows near Rünthe are an ecologically valuable landscape conservation area along the Lippe River in North Rhine-Westphalia. This area, also known as the Lippe floodplains, is characterized by its rich biodiversity and significant wetlands. The Lippe Meadows extend north of the Lippe River and are interspersed with numerous oxbow lakes, ponds, pools, and wet grassland areas.The Lippe Meadows landscape conservation area is home to a variety of bird species, including many rare and endangered species such as the common snipe and the spotted crake. Amphibians, butterflies, and dragonflies also find an ideal habitat here. Due to its high ecological importance, the area has been proposed as a nature reserve by the Hamm Nature Conservation Association.
