Built between 1903 and 1906, it was used to distribute drinking water from the Mangfalltal extraction area to the three former pipes to Munich. Today, the pipe from the Mühlthal slope spring catchment runs through the structure and is then transferred to the new pipe system in a new underground distribution shaft. An honorable name has been found for the Maxlmühle distribution shaft: "Maxlmühle water castle".
