The Reisacher groundwater catchment is one of the most imposing structures of the Munich drinking water supply. The beautiful rotunda is located in the source protection area Mangfalltal - a beautiful forest and meadow landscape.
In the Reisacher version, the groundwater is extracted by means of three collection tunnels that lead in a star shape to a distribution shaft. The collecting tunnels used in the aquiferous underground have a total length of about 1.8 kilometers.
The version was built between 1902 and 1912 above the main shaft. The heavy bronze door is, like everything else on this shaft, still original. The water extraction plant
is a free-standing movement, where the water in the free flow without the use of pumps comes to light. In addition to the groundwater catchment Reisach, the Mühlthaler and the Gotzinger slope springs are also located in the Mangfalltal mining area.
Since these three versions are located about 100 meters above the center of Munich, the water can be directed to Munich on a free slope. They deliver an average of about 2,800 liters of water per second and thus cover 85 percent of Munich's water demand.
