The Plettenberg (local dialect form: the Bloachta or the Plaikten) is a 1001.7 m above sea level, striking mountain on the western edge of the Swabian Alb. It is one of the mountains that protrudes furthest from the low mountain range; the 158-meter-high radio tower built on it can be easily seen from a great distance. Along with the Lochen (964 m above sea level) and the Schafberg (1000 m above sea level), the Plettenberg is one of the so-called Balingen Mountains, of which it is the highest. As the tenth highest mountain in the Swabian Alb and the Grosser Heuberg, the Plettenberg does not belong to the region of the 10,000-meter peaks, although this region is organically connected. It is considered one of the main attractions of the local recreation area "Oberes Schlichemtal". Limestone has been mined on the high plateau of the Plettenberg for decades and transported by the Dotternhausen-Plettenberg cable car to the valley station of the cement works near Dotternhausen, several hundred meters below.Source: Wikipedia
