In 1834, Antoņ Veith had a chapel built on the village square with an iron cross and statues of St. John and James by the sculptor Karel Max. The chapel was then consecrated by the Liběch priest Filip Čermák.
Anton Veith is THE beet sugar manufacturer and lord of the castle of Liběchov, who supported artists of the Romantic period, including the carpenter's son Václav Levý, who was able to live out his life on the sandstone of the area in 1840-50 (at the age of 20!), and who had the Slavín Tower and the castle complex built on top of the hill.
