The bridge takes its name from two white marble lion statues that guard the bridge on the west side. The lions were commissioned and donated by former St. Augustine mayor and physician Andrew Anderson and are named Fiel and Firme, Faithful and Firm. They are copies of Medici lions from Florence, Italy. They are fabulous to see in person. Put this on your list of things to do in St. Augustine.

The Bridge of Lions is an iconic place that you can't miss when visiting Saint Augustine. It is beautiful and well maintained. Traffic stops every 30 minutes when boats need to pass under it. At night, the lights of the bridge create a special atmosphere. Lots of fun activities and sights in the bridge area.

a beautiful bridge with stone lions at the beginning and end. On the side of the historic center, however, these were dismantled because they were either damaged more often or even stolen
