Lieving is a hamlet in the municipality of Midden-Drenthe, in the Dutch province of Drenthe. It is located on the southeast side of Beilen, which it also falls under. Lieving was reported in 1543 as Leuijnghe and 1851 as Lievinge. The place name is said to be named after a person descended from a certain Lywe or Lieuwe. The hamlet was for a long time a small farming town where many cottars lived. In the 20th century it slowly grew into a small village or hamlet, but formally it has remained a hamlet. The population grew from 37 in 1840 to over 200. In 2004 it was less than 150 inhabitants.

A second hamlet emerged between Lieving and Beilerstraat, in the northeast corner. At the beginning of the 21st century it was decided that the western part, close to Lieving, would be developed for spacious new construction. In 2016 it also received an official name after deregistration, Lievingerveld. In the southeastern extension of Lieving there is the smaller hamlet of Makkum. Together with Makkum, Lieving had 200 inhabitants in 2004, 190 in 2008 and 230 in 2017.
