Surrounded by greenery and located next to the Lake, this mansion in a French architectural style was home to Lu Han (1895-1974), a former general and head of the Yunnan Provincial Government.
On 9-Dec-1949 it was from here that he initiated the Yunnan Uprising that led to Yunnan joining the People's Republic of China and the apprehension of Kuomintang leaders at his mansion. As history is normally written by those victorious, the building today is a memorial and museum to the peaceful Yunnan Uprising - and wax figures are used in the conference room to recreate the events of that evening.
The memorial/museum is open from 9am to 5pm, some days even longer.
