    A beautiful little village church

The village church in Binde is a Romanesque hall church dating from the early 13th century. It is constructed of fieldstone masonry and features a square choir and a striking west transept tower. Original structural elements such as the narrow east window and the priest's door have been preserved, while other openings were altered in the 19th and early 20th centuries. In 2006, a fragment of an old Binder bronze bell, cast by Arndt Blome in 1524, was found. The inscription on the bell revealed that it was named for Saint George: sanctus iorus heite ick. This could have been St. George's patron saint.

Inside, a round triumphal arch separates the flat-roofed hall from the choir, which has a domed cross vault. The furnishings include an altarpiece with an oil painting of the Man of Sorrows, a late Gothic crucifix, and a Baroque pulpit with paintings of Christ and the Evangelists. The organ dates from 1900. Particularly striking is the late Gothic brick portal to the churchyard, which is characterized by a paraboloid arched opening, circular blind arches and an ornate stepped gable.
