The light art works can be seen from June 15th to October 6th, 2024. The installations shine every evening from 7 p.m. to midnight.
Observers are gray wooden architectures that serve as observation posts spread over a large red-lit area. In their modular structure, the retro-futuristic buildings are reminiscent of space habitats and, in combination with the monochrome red-flooded ramparts of the museum park, create an intense, threatening scene. The red light spectrum is minimally or not at all perceptible to many animals and insects - but enables people to orient themselves well in the dark. With Observer, Christian Holl creates a surreal alienation of the place through a changed perception of the nighttime park and enables the non-invasive exploration of the inner-city habitat.
