The Brecht Weigel House in Buckow has been a memorial to Bertolt Brecht and Helene Weigel since 1977. The artist couple had chosen the place since 1952 as a summer residence. Many well-known artists, ia. Hanns Eisler and Ernst Busch, stayed here. After Brecht's death in 1956 Helene Weigel used the property until her death in 1971 next to her Berlin apartment for recreation.

In the house on Schermützelsee Bertolt Brecht and his wife Helene Weigel spent the summers far away from the big city from 1952 until his death. Bertolt Brecht wrote the "Buckower Elegies" here. The building, erected as a studio house in 1910/11, now counts around 15,000 visitors a year as a museum.
Here, in the small museum, is the carriage (Madame Courage) which Helene Weigel pulled over the stage over 400 times.
