It was followed by several restorations, partial replicas and implementations, u. a. to the castle and the former train station, the last of which was completed on May 25, 2008 and had the return to the original location at the town hall entailed. • "In 1756 (on June 28) the postal column was erected on the local market," reported Reinhold's "Chronicle of the City of Dahme and the Surrounding Area". The elector had already instructed in 1721 that columns should be erected! One must and may also credit the people of Dahme with the fact that they were still "New Saxony" at the time, because Dahme too only came to Electoral Saxony through the Peace of Prague in 1635.The distance column survived the Seven Years' War at its location, the Napoleonic occupation from 1806 to 1813, the Congress of Vienna, as a result of which Dahme and other Electoral Saxon areas came under Prussia and also the Dahmer uprising of 1848. But a great misfortune struck them in 1881. The Dahmer Chronicle reports (quote from the website of the city of Dahme): "On January 14, 1881, around 11 a.m., our city was robbed of an old monument. The horses of the innkeeper Klaebsch, who lived on Grosse Straße, were stolen, and they drove a wagon loaded with snow from his suddenly shy and drove the pole against the old Saxon postal column on the market square in front of the town hall with such great force that it immediately fell over and was smashed into several pieces." In 2008 it was ceremoniously re-erected as a replica.
