The distance column survived the Seven Years' War at its location, the Napoleonic occupation from 1806 to 1813, the Congress of Vienna, as a result of which Dahme and other Electoral Saxon areas came under Prussia and also the Dahmer uprising of 1848. But a great misfortune struck them in 1881. The Dahmer Chronicle reports (quote from the website of the city of Dahme): "On January 14, 1881, around 11 a.m., our city was robbed of an old monument.
