Hiking

According to legend, the devil wanted to throw the stone at Medingen Monastery and destroy it. Because he celebrated too late at night, he did not manage to get to Medingen in time before the first cock crow and failed in his attempt. The devil's stone lay in this spot for a long time until the Bevensen master mason Griepe had it split in 1839 to use it to build a monument in the Göhrde. Many pieces of the boulder are still scattered along this hiking trail in the forest today.
