More than 10 years ago, Truffer AG decided to build a new residential and commercial building in Vals in the Graubünden mountains. For a company that has been dealing with stone and its diverse uses in architecture for generations, the search for the right architect was a major task - to create a building that, in terms of its size, fits into the traditional mountain village without being perceived as a foreign body, but still plays with new, unusual shapes, unusual uses of materials, in harmony with nature, with the environment. And of course - the stone. As a connecting element between tradition and modernity, this should fulfill its task of creating harmony with the materials wood, metal and glass. Truffer AG found its master in the Japanese architect Kengo Kuma.
