The central point of Olkusz is the Old Market Square with interesting tenement houses, mainly from the 19th century, standing on the foundations of older buildings. Under one of them (Rynek 4) there are cellars of the former mint of King Sigismund Augustus from 1579. For several years, the Market Square in Olkusz and the nearest streets underwent a thorough revitalization (2010-2013), tenement houses were renovated, the slab was replaced, new elements of small architecture were created. The stylized lighting of the Market Square and the basilica also appeared. All this makes the Market Square in Olkusz delight both residents and tourists.
It was laid out in 1299, when the city was founded. It runs along 6 streets (Sławkowska, Floriańska, Augustiańska, Krakowska, Żuradzka and Basztowa). It has the shape of a square, elongated to the east after tenement houses were moved back in the 19th century (now this part is occupied by a car park).

Finally managed to see it on a cycling trip. I've been driving through Olkusz a 100 times and never been in the centre, which is just a few hudred meters away.
