Šaltupė's chapel stood in the northern part of the city of Zarasai, near Šaltupė street. Chapel in 1824 built by Antanas Zarenberg. It was made of brick, plastered and painted white. At the top, under the canopy, there was a small arch-shaped opening in which stood a statue of Christ. People considered this statue to be magical. There are various stories about the origin of the chapel. It is said that one stormy day lightning struck the church and it was knocked down into the lake. The statue of Christ, which was standing next to the church and had miraculous power, floated to the surface of the water. In that place, near the Šaltupe spring, the parishioners built a brick chapel, to which they moved the aforementioned statue. Another reason for the appearance of the chapel could be the Šaltupė stream, according to locals, its water is healing. 1960 July 10 Zarasai district authorities allow Fr. A.
