The Eschmolen was built as a successor to an octagonal ground sailor that stood just outside Delden and burned down in 1959 after being struck by lightning. That mill had been without a sail cross since 1934: that had collapsed in that year as a result of the (wooden) upper shaft breaking.

In March 2023, construction of the foundation began. Not much later, the octagon was finished externally, the roof was built next to the octagon. On May 8, 2024, the roof was placed on the hull and on June 12, the sails were inserted. On September 14, 2024, Open Monument Day, this mill was festively put into use.
