The sand lizard is under threat. If the habitat is lost, for example due to construction work, a new habitat must be created according to the Federal Nature Conservation Act. The sand lizards now live here in the Herzberge Landscape Park, having been relocated when the former Schöneweide marshalling yard was converted into an industrial site.
