Built in 1887, the Halle aux Fromages was the place for the exchange and sale of Brie cheeses. Its structure is made of cast iron, modeled on the Halles de Paris. It is the work of the architect Jules Chevallier.
The Cheese Hall therefore testifies to the historical and commercial character of the city, whose economy in the 19th century was based mainly on cheese production.
