The restoration of this space for museum purposes provided a renewed historical interpretation of the monument, highlighting one of its most important functions.
Located within the original castle enclosure, the church is a remarkable temple from the second half of the 15th century, classified as a National Monument in 1910.
As a museum object in itself, the church also provides an excellent venue for monographic exhibitions, visual arts, musical performances, lectures, and ceremonial events.
The adjacent spaces that provide access to the São Tiago Sculpture Reserve and the bell tower clock (18th-century technology) are open to visitors.
