In 1593, on October 7th, Palma was founded by the Republic of Venice as an ideal fortress city, especially against the Turks. This drawing of the floor plan with the 9 points and bastions comes from Joris Hoefnagel, a Flemish draftsman from the 16th century. What is special: the city still has this star-shaped floor plan today.
