The Frisian house on Backenswarft was built in 1750 and has been adapted to changing uses over the centuries.
Pesel - this is the name given to the "parlor" of a Frisian house, which was previously only used for special occasions.
The "Blue Pesel" owes its name to the famous painter Nikolaus Soltau, who lived and worked on Hooge for several years. In 1928, he painted the ceiling beams, doors, and alcoves in the basic color blue, which is the basis for colorful still lifes.
Like many Frisian houses, some of the walls of the Pesel are decorated with Delft tiles. The Dutch wall tiles often depict biblical depictions, ships, or rural scenes with blue or purple glaze in round cartouches on a white background.
Several tiles together can also form a large motif in the form of a tableau.
Ship motifs or floral motifs are often depicted in this form.

Call ahead, register, and then enjoy a delicious breakfast: homemade bread, rolls, strawberry jam, elderflower jelly, ... Prepared with love, nicely served, tasty, ... Sit in peace, enjoy nature, marvel at the birds and flowers, feast, ... Highly, highly recommended 👍
