    Family history
The history of the Walz Inn
The grandfather of the current innkeeper, Adam Walz, opened the inn in 1913. His father, Georg Walz, took over the business together with his wife Margarete ("Retl"). Adam Walz took over the inn in 1975 and demolished the old building three years later. Since then, Adam has been serving his guests in the new inn with great joy and hospitality. The daughter of the house, Sonja, will continue to run the inn, which has been family-owned for over 100 years.
The inventors of the pepper carp

Adam convinced his mother Retl to try the carp with pepper to make it taste spicier. He and the guests liked this combination so much that they have always prepared the pepper carp for the guests since then. This special recipe mixture, developed by Retl and appreciated by the guests, makes our pepper carp unique to this day. Traditionally, we only serve carp from the Aischgrund in the R months from September to April. There is also a homemade potato salad from our own cultivation. At weekends from 5 p.m. there is also "blue" carp in vinegar broth.

Every Sunday you can enjoy delicious sauerbraten, also according to Grandma Retl's recipe, as well as liver dumpling soup, caraway, pork and cream roast. We also offer other roasts that change weekly, such as venison, veal, goose and duck breast, hare leg, roulade or horseradish with beef. On Sunday evenings from 5 p.m. there is also pizza.

We make pressed sausage, smoked ham and chops for you from our own pig farm. Our other schnitzel variations are of course all fried in the pan.

To accompany our dishes we recommend a delicious Löwenbräu beer from Buttenheim, fresh from the tap. For wine lovers we have Franconian Silvaner, Müller-Thurgau and Bacchus from the Franconian Karl Meyer winery in Rödelsee and Palatinate Dornfelder and Portugieser Weißherbst from the Seebach winery in Ilbesheim. You can round off your meal with a fruit schnapps made from Williams Christ pears, sloes, plums or raspberries, chocolate chilli liqueur or homemade egg liqueur.
