Petrified Wood Trail

From the lake, the path ascends a few meters, and within a short hike, visitors can spot the first petrified trees. Petrified Forest Trail is well-marked and features a mesa where fossilized wood, including large logs, can be seen. The visitor center shows fossils, petrified wood, and dinosaur bones over 150 million years old. The park also offers an optional, steeper trail, Sleeping Rainbows, for those seeking more physical channeling.

From the lake, this path goes up a few meters. After a short hike you can already see the first petrified trees. The path is well signposted and feasible for everyone.

In the semi-desert, there are many plants despite the dryness. Above all, the many cacti (Opuntia) in their colors are an eye-width. But also the asters and evening primrose should not be left. All plants here are perfectly adapted to these climatic conditions.
