The parking lot at Hólmatungur, called Ytra-Þórunnarfjall, offers visitors good access and excellent views. There are marked hiking trails around Hólmatungur, as well as connections to the trails of Dettifoss in the south and Ásbyrgi and Hljóðaklettar in the north. Overnight stays are not allowed in the parking lot.
