Jökulsárgljúfur National Park extends along the canyon of the glacial river Jökulsá á Fjöllum. An ideal starting point for excursions is the camping site in the Ásbyrgi. From here there is a lovely short walk to the tip of the rock island, which also provides insight into the rich flora of this area due to its favorable microclimate.
