About 4.6 million tons of iron ore were mined in this pit.
Today the mine is a sightseeing mine with a mine railway museum.
It is located between Solms-Oberbiel and Asslar-Berghausen.
During the season, numerous guided tours and other interesting events are offered there.
There is also the "Zechenhaus", a restaurant with very tasty food and drinks.
