Designed by Maurice Laurentin, the Chapelle des Recoins (emergency chapel) was built in 1947 in the heart of the potters' village, at the request of its inhabitants and with their help.

In 1920, the inhabitants of the villages of potters, brickmakers and tile makers were very far from the town. They therefore asked Abbot Dixneuf to build a chapel in Les Recoins. As the bishopric did not authorize this construction, it was not until 1936 that Father Grolleau took over the project. Project once again interrupted by the Second World War.
Father Grolleau died in 1944 and this is how Father Rouillard began the work.

In 1946, Joseph Quentin offered a plot of land of 150 m². On June 1, 1947, the first stone was laid. The structural masonry work was carried out by Maurice Chevalier du Puiset Doré. The red bricks are chosen from regional workshops and the stones come from an old kiln. The two large rollers which frame the door were used to crush the clay which was used to make the pots.

On July 18, 1948 the Bishop of Angers blessed the chapel. Throughout the afternoon, the “Potter’s Song” resonated throughout the celebrating village.
