Very nice hiking and cycling destination south of Weißenberg. All information about the Strohmberg: de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strohmberg

Those who head for this point are standing on a mountain, all the royal Saxon triangulation stations are on crests.

Station No. 47 Strohmberg is a 2nd order station of the triangular network of the Royal Saxon triangulation. In the 19th century, optical measuring devices were fixed to the monoliths in order to target other stations for surveying purposes. Most of these technical monuments are still preserved and since they are all on hilltops, they always offer a great view of Saxony as a destination.

From this station, the stations No. 2 (Nostitzhöhe) as well as the stations No. 42 (Rothstein), No. 46 (Czorneboh) and No. 48 (Großdubrau) of the second order were located. The Saxon triangular network is considered a technical masterpiece of linear measurement, it was the most accurate land survey in Europe at the time.

The summit offers a wonderful view to the south and southwest of the Lausitzer Bergland and the bench next to the survey column invites you to have a picnic.
