"As Station No. 2 Nostitzhöhe, the Monumentberg was a first-order station of the Royal Saxon Triangulation in the 1860s. For this reason, a survey column was erected on the summit."

From this station the first order stations No. 1 (Ossling), No. 3 (Jauernick), No. 4 (Jeschken), No. 5 (Lausche), No. 6 (Valtenberg) and second order stations No. 42 (Rothstein), No. 47 (Strohmberg) and No. 48 (Großdubrau).

The royal Saxon triangulation is still considered a technical masterpiece and was the most accurate land survey in Europe in the 19th century.

On weekends there is a summit gastronomy, where every hiker and cyclist gets their money's worth. However, the hustle and bustle can be quite big here. Always worth a trip as a bicycle or mountain bike destination.
