Historic railway bridge on the former railway line Altenhundem-Birkelbach.
February 17, 2019
Railway viaduct over the Hundembach River
This is a three-arched railway bridge built with ashlar masonry made of local porphyry.
The bridge is located on the railway line from Altenhundem (now Lennestadt) to Birkelbach (now Erndtebrück), which opened on June 30, 1914. It is characterized by two platforms on each side and a simple iron railing designed in Art Nouveau style. The bridge is one of the few remaining examples of the Altenhundem-Birkelbach line.
