Through the Landesgartenschau 2011 significantly upgraded terrain on 720000 sqm. The large city park lake is now occupied by a water ski facility. Overall, the park is divided into three regions:
- Seepark (with bathing beach, lookout bar, climbing test and perennial band),
- Forest Park (with lookout hill, heath and moor path, Waldbühne and forest playground) and
- Feldpark (mini golf, high ropes course, fruit tree meadow, herbal adventure garden and a nature experience space for kids).
Even off the beaten track there is much to discover, e.g. a tree nature trail, a nature trail (with information boards) and - through the church sponsored - creation path.

On an old industrial and landfill site, the city of Norderstedt developed the Norderstedt city park with a wide range of facilities for culture and sport.
An open-air stage, footbridges over the lake, a staircase at the lake, a sports band, an outdoor pool and the cultural center at the lake as well as various restaurants are among the attractive offers of the actively managed city park.
The park was the location of the Schleswig-Holstein state garden show in 2011.
