In former times this place was called Schwedenborn. The legend tells that at the time of Emperor Albrecht of Austria - at the beginning of the 14th century - three pious sisters withdrew into this wilderness to escape violent bailiffs who wanted to kidnap them. They lived a holy life there. According to legend, after the death of the last of the three sisters, a spring with healing water gushed forth. Many people sought healing by bathing in the cold spring water. Hence the name Kaltbad.
