The oldest and largest bridge over the Radew River, known as the railway bridge, was completed in the first half of 1859. On June 1 of the same year, the Stargard-Koszalin-Kołobrzeg railway began. It is worth noting that on this occasion, the future emperor, Wilhelm I, came to Karlino to ceremonially open a new railway connection. At that time, this bridge was an outstanding example of structural engineering, which was included in the "Journal of Construction Engineering" (Zeitschrift für Bauwesen) published in Berlin in 1864. It describes in detail the buildings built along the route of the mentioned railway, and the entire page is devoted to the construction of the bridge over the Radew River. This bridge became an integral part of the city's landscape, and the pre-war inhabitants of Karlino called it "Bogen", which can be translated as "Arches".
