One of the very well restored and beautiful lighthouses on Lake Michigan. A great photo opportunity at good weather conditions. I strongly recommend to go there in the late afternoon due to the position of the sun and perfect light.

It was the last staffed lighthouse on Lake Michigan and the last Michigan lighthouse to lose its keeper when it was automated in 1983. The lighthouse was built with distinctive yellow or Cream City brick and features a rare fourth-order Fresnel lens, which has been returned and is now displayed for visitors.
