The Katelios Group was founded in 1993/1994 and is dedicated to the research and protection of marine and terrestrial life, with a focus on the conservation of nesting sites in Mounda Bay.
Their main activities include monitoring the beaches: Volunteers patrol the beaches to locate, mark, and protect nests.
The group operates an
environmental and cultural center in Katelios to educate visitors and locals about the ecological importance of the region.
Data is collected on
turtle populations to understand long-term trends and improve conservation efforts.
