The dates on the cross signify the annual performances of the Passion Play of St. Margarethen: the first in 1926, then in 1933 and 1936. In 1933, the gaming community made a vow to perform the Passion Play of Christ every ten years. Because of the increasing demand, they decided to play every five years.

The first performances took place on a farm, later in the Festspielhaus (1929). In 1961, they moved to the Roman quarry, whose backdrop is made for it.

The summit cross at Kogelberg can be easily reached in a few minutes from the parking lot at the St.Margarethen quarry. The path is suitable for children. It does not take any special skills to come up here.
